22 march 2019 about mystical things

mystical things . . . which i formerly avoided writing about for fear of writing nonsense . . . but now i feel like doing so . . . because that taboo has almost gone and now i am waiting to see what speaking spontaneously of mystical things will bring about . . .

i can now start to think the unthinkable, the academically forbidden thoughts . . . . the academics were supposed to speak only about reality, about objective things that you can touch and feel and think about precisely . . .

i stop a bit to see what comes . . . perhaps what i remember of earlier attempts at this writing . . . of combining speech and printing in a manner that is open to everyone . . .

mystical things i suppose are those that do not really exist and are fanciful or untrue or even frightening or funny in that they do not conform to what was said before and if one tries to describe them they become unbelievable . . . or in some way unnecessary or contradictory to each other or to anything else . . . you can see this happening in this very sentence in which nothing much has emerged so far . . . and yet it touches upon profound matters . . .

on listening to someone reading aloud what i just said produces an emptiness which nevertheless can be interesting or even funny (as i said a few words back) . . . and now i am failing to put it into agreeable words . . . and yet i am touching on interesting subjects on which i would like to continue with today, whatever they may be . . .

there comes now into my mind a vision of a unicorn . . . an imaginary beast which surely does not exist and never has and yet it figures as part of the national emblem of Britain . . . the lion and the unicorn . . . the lion both real and imaginary . . . nursery rhymes come to mind . . . or prayers spoken to God who surely is assumed to be masculine . . . and yet there may be queens or other fictitious beings in that they are made by people . . . and it raises the question if people talking about a unicorn reveals that they are talking nonsense . . . and yet it can be a matter of great importance . . . of life and death . . . where these emblems are involved in wars and other equally nasty or exciting events . . .

when i touched on this subject before the conversation became quite hilarious as the most ridiculous things came to mind . . . and now they turn into song . . . next came the thought of clothing and fashion . . . which could include knights in armour and ladies dresses (as does the Pope or as do most priests in their feminine costumes) . . .

as these odd examples flash through my mind i feel that almost everything is a bit mystical . . . and it is only by such a severe exclusion that the silly can be seen as quite serious . . . and all those things such as words and numbers . . . or sets of words or pictures . . . can be seen to comprise a reality that is a matter of life and death . . . or even scientific exactitude . . . or boring or resenting rules of command which in liberal things or freedoms that we are willing to protest about . . . in this we are looking at mystical things and perhaps too personal for sensible writing . . .

having started today from the idea of mystical things i seem to have slipped to the ridiculous or even the annoying for which my apologies or other soothing thoughts yes please and thank you

where is the unicorn?

'tea or coffee' asks someone and i reply 'hot water thank you very much' and she smiles when she brings it and goes away to bring some drinks to someone else . . . tea, coffee or other refreshments are of course physical realities but also in their ritual presence in the meal or in the ceremonial eating show that the mystical can be quite ordinary and quite comforting so let us pause here to contemplate what it is we are thinking about . . . if we can stand it or even enjoy it . . . it is indeed close to nonsense as well as to the finer things in life . . .
