6 august 2007 a conversation with twins, and their aunt

19:18 ...three people and a dog came to sit beside me on a seat in Sandy Heath: Andrew and Nicholas Kaforis, out walking with their aunt Chrisoulla Foreman (who reminded me of Gertrude Stein) and Dolly the colly...

...Andrew and Nicholas are twins and one is 10 mins older than the other... they are now middle aged and they called me 'young sir!'

Nicholas is a teacher and wanted to be a vet... and their aunt lives near to a vetinary college in London...

...Andrew spoke the name for twins in Chinese, in Japanese, in Polish... he said that he loves languages and knows the name for twins in many...

...they liked the idea of appearing in the digital diary and gave me permission to include their names - so i hope they see this entry, though it is appearing a week after our meeting...

...when i gave them the address of the diary one of them suggested that 'demon' should be changed, (perhaps to something more Christian?)... but i got to like the word when i learnt that 'daemonic' is said (in Plato's Symposium) to be something that is both earthly and heavenly... (i hope that 'softopia' has that character)

...the twins talked enthusiastically of many things... their family is from Greece (or was it Cyprus?) but they are very much Londoners, having lived all their lives in the city...

...and now something keeps dropping from the tree above - the green pods (or shells) of beech nuts... several drop each minute (though there is little wind)... and now one has just fallen onto my hand...
